 /Amanda Erwin-
     Thompson

Amanda Erwin-Thompson, born in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and raised in the captivating islands and seascapes of the Florida Keys, is an artist currently residing in Indianapolis, Indiana.

At a young age Amanda discovered her passion for art and began honing her skills through self-expression and exploration. Captivated by the anime art style present in her favorite shows and movies like Sailor Moon, The Last Unicorn, and the masterpieces of Studio Ghibli; Amanda found her artistic voice in the realm of whimsical fantasy. She fell in love with the way this style beautifully blended imagination and storytelling, encouraging her focus in watercolor, acrylic, and digital mediums.

As a self-taught artist, Amanda's unique artistic style is best described as a harmonious fusion of mythical creatures and pop culture brought to life with vibrant colors.  Drawing inspiration from fanciful bedtime stories, folklore, animals, and the wonders of nature, Amanda's work captures the essence of the interconnectedness between humans and the natural world. Her compositions often incorporate elements of flora, fauna, and animal symbolism allowing the fantastical worlds in her work to create an enchanting visual narrative brought to life with exacting details and an imaginative use of color.

She admires artists like Brian Froud, Pui Mun Law, and Qing Han for their ability to weave fantasy and reality together seamlessly with their exemplary use of color and skillful storytelling. Amanda is also influenced by the pop art and fauvism movements as evidenced by her use of a vivid palette that radiates joy and evokes a sense of wonder.

With each stroke of her brush or pen Amanda aims to invite her audience to embrace their own sense of wonder, to be captivated by the beauty of the natural world, celebrate the extraordinary in the ordinary, and to rediscover the magic within themselves through the enchantment of art.

Amanda is continuously evolving as an artist as she explores new mediums, pushes the boundaries of her style, and enriches her body of work. She looks forward to participating in upcoming projects, exhibitions, and collaborations that will enable her to share her artistic vision with a broader audience.
